My New Blog

Dear visitors,

Welcome to my new blog!  I am very excited to share my blog with you. I am a third grader in Mrs. Yollis' class in California. I live with my parents, my little sister, Leila, and my yellow lab, Conner. I love to read, play soccer, ski, and do karate.

I will try to post as often as I can about my hobbies, travels, and other special and exciting events in my life. Please check out my gadgets and my Voki. I am looking forward to reading your comments, so please don't be shy and leave me as many comments as you would like!

I would like to thank Mrs. Yollis for giving me a blog. She has taught me so much about blogging. I really appreciate her guidance and patience in teaching me to blog.

I have had a lot of fun reading and commenting on other blogs, I hope you have as much fun reading and commenting on mine.

Do you have any hobbies?

Do you participate in any sports?

Do you have any pets?

If you don't have a pet would you like one?

Happy blogging,
Hannah

  1. Dear Hannah,

Great job on your wonderful achievement of getting your own blog! I think the name "Hannah's Hacienda" is a name that your viewers will remember. I have heard you talking in class about if you get your own blog, what the posts would be about...and today was the day your thoughts came true.

I am looking forward to seeing all your spectacular posts in the future.

To answer your question: I do have a pet dog named Bella. She is a white chihuahua with little black spots. I also have a pet cat named Coco, and she is a Persian cat. Her face looks very scrunched up.

Do you have any other pets?

    Sincerely,
    Im★n

  10. Dear Hannah,

Congratulations on earning your very own blog! You must feel very proud of yourself.

I enjoyed your opening post, it is nice to learn about student bloggers and what interests students have on the other side of the world.

At the moment we are on school holidays for all of January. That is because I live in Australia, which is in the southern hemisphere.

During the holidays I have spent time with family and friends, read some books, exercised, been shopping, done the gardening and I've also done some cooking.

I have a pet cat named Bella. She is black and white and very cheeky. She is enjoying playing in the lovely sunshine at the moment.

Keep up the great work Hannah!

  11. Hi Hannah. What a well written first post. I can see why Mrs Yollis thought you deserved your own blog. You have made a very good job of setting it up too - it looks interesting but not too cluttered.

I have 2 dogs called Ellie & Mary. They are very friendly and I love spending time with them. They love it when I am home with them in the school holidays.

I love reading and walking, listening to music, and playing about on the computer.I find lots of interesting things to share with my students. I will add your class blog to our class blog's links so that y students can visit.

  12. @ Iman,

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I was elated when I found out that I had earned a blog. To answer your question I don't have any other pets, I had three fish a couple years ago but they all died. :(

    @ Victoria

Thank you for your wonderful comment. Just as you said the jellybeans are colorful and that's why I chose them.

    @ AA,

Thank you for commenting on my blog. I appreciate your comment. I always have had fun commenting and reading BB's blog. It is nice to see that you commented on mine.

    Sincerely,

  13. Dear Hannah,

I'm a 6th grade teacher at A.E. Wright Middle School. I've met your teacher and know how strict she is with students creating their own blogs. You must be a really good student to have earned this privilige.

I hope you like blogging. You've gotten off to a great start with your blog. It's fun to read and you've included fun things to look at.

    Congratulations on this achievement.

  14. Dear Hannah,

Wow, you have a lot of comments already. I think you're going to be a popular blogger!

Well done on earning your own blog - you deserve it.

I enjoyed reading a little about your interests.

Some of my interests are blogging (of course), reading, cooking, bushwalking (you call it hiking), running and staying fit.

I don't have a pet at my house but I have a cat at my mum's house. His name is Chester and he is a fluffy ginger cat. He is very shy so when Nate and I go to my mum's house he usually hides!

Nate also has a lab at his mum and dad's house. She is a beautiful, blonde lab called Maddie. Maddie loves her belly rubbed. I wonder if Conner does too?

I'm looking forward to following your blog!

    Your blogging buddy,

  15. Dear Hannah,

Great job on your blog! What a great achievement, Hannah!

Thank you so much for being a great friend and helping to set up a day so we can work on our blogs together. You are extremely helpful!

I remember on the day that some other students had earned a blog and you and I were so disappointed that we didn't get one.

From that day on, you and I wrote a lot of quality comments and we worked really hard and now we have one.

A few days before the actual conference to discuss the blog, our parents told us that they were having a conference with Mrs. Yollis. You, Miriam, and I finally guessed that this appointment was about a blog.

On the day of the conference you and I went together. We stayed outside. At the end, Mrs. Yollis asked, "Did you draw a conclusion about a blog, girls?" We replied "Yes." Us three girls were overjoyed the next day when Mrs. Yollis called out the blogs.

I remember, I told you on the day when three students got their own blog "Well, we shouldn't worry, I have a feeling that we will earn our own blogs." You agreed and now we are so right.

To answer your question: Yes, I do have a pet named Sparkle. She is a goldfish, that has been alive since last year's Persian New Year in March 2010.

Have a joyous time on your blog!

    Your friend,
    Adia ★

  16. Dear Hannah,

I am so proud of you! Your blog has a colorful theme and the writing is spectacular!

The picture you chose for your introduction is a perfect one for the Internet. In the photo I could see the jelly beans in the background. That lead me to draw the conclusion...that's Hannah! Well done! It's good to limit personal information on the web.

You asked if I have any hobbies. As you might guess, blogging and learning about new technologies are hobbies of mine. I also enjoy gardening. However, since it is winter here in the northern hemisphere, it is a bit too cold for that!

You also mentioned pets. All of my life I have had pets. Our first dog, Benjamin Franklin, was a cocker spaniel. Later, I had two dogs. One was named Gus and one was named Vern. Finally, I had a beautiful white cat named Sam. He lived to be 18 years old which is a long life for a cat.

Mr. Yollis and I are going to get a dog later this year. Do you have any advice as far as breed? I sure hope he doesn't turn out like Fritz!

    Happy Blogging!

    Your proud teacher!

    Mrs. Y♥llis

  17. @ Ms. Weiss,

Thank you for your kind comment. I am glad you like my blog. You are right, Mrs. Yollis is very strict about who earns their blogs. I am extremely happy and proud to have earned one.

    @ Mrs. Morris,

I love your new avatar, you look great in it! Thank you for your thoughtful comment and for teaching me a new word "bushwalking". I also noticed that you call what we call "yellow labs" "blonde labs". To answer your question, Conner loves to have his belly rubbed. He also loves it when I pet him under his chin.

    @ Adia,

Thank you for your leaving a spectacular comment. I'm glad I could help you with your blog. It has turned out great.

I am so glad that all three of us earned a blog, I know we will all work very hard to make them special!

  18. Dear Mrs. Yollis,

Thank you for your lovely compliments. I am so happy to hear that you like my blog.

I am amazed that you have had so many pets. My dad has had many dogs but Conner is my mom's first pet.

As for my suggestion for a breed of dog, I am pretty biased since I have a yellow lab and I think they are wonderful. They are very sweet , loving and friendly. At times they look like they are smiling! But I must warn you, they are very active and shed a lot. Whatever dog you choose I am sure you will be very happy because as they say "a dog is a man's best friend!"

    Your student,
    Hannah

P.S. Thanks again for allowing me to have my blog!

  19. Dear Hannah,

I had no idea that you had earned your own blog until today. Congratulations! I especially liked the background on your blog. The students in your class have learned so much from Mrs. Yollis about blogging. I sure enjoy having your class come to the computer lab.

I have two dogs. They both are Australian Cattle dogs. My dogs names are Dot and Ginny.

  20. Dear Hannah joon,

    EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT!!!

I'm so very proud of you for earning your blog. You truly deserve it. It was hard work, but through perseverance, dedication, and discipline you finally are the proud "owner" of your "own" blog.

I would like to thank you and your mom for helping Adia and I with her blog. We got off to a shaky start, after I realized that I had misplaced (or perhaps even lost) my notes, which I took during the meeting with Mrs. Yollis. You and mom came to the rescue and we're very grateful.

I love your Voki. The fact that you recorded your own voice makes it that much more sweet. Her face is cute and friendly. I love those beautiful brown eyes.

The jelly beans look yummy. One of my favorite U.S. Presidents was Ronald Reagan. I found out a few months ago when we visited the Ronald Reagan Library, that his favorite treats were... yes, you guessed it, "jelly beans". At that library they sell all kinds of them. Ones I have never seen anywhere else.

I will be sure to check out your blog very often as it's very apparent that it will be fun, informative and educational.

Lots of hugs, kisses, and blessings,
    Ava (Adia's MAMA)

Enjoy your new blog and I hope to revisit you again.

We're a classroom of students in New Zealand, on the other side of the world, although no-one is here at the moment, its Summer so our students will be back at the start of next month from their Summer holiday, we're going to start our own blogs for our students and I have always loved your class blog, because of all the work that Mrs Yollis and you students have done for it, but we can use your blog as an example for our students in New Zealand!

  23. Dear Hannah,

What a great welcome post! I like how you shared some information about yourself and then asked your readers to share a little bit about themselves. That is a great way to get the readers involved and make connections.

I also like the jellybean theme. It makes your blog bright and cheerful.

Some of my hobbies are bodysurfing, painting watercolors, and hiking.

I don't have a pet right now but if I did I would want a yellow labrador. We always had labs when I was growing up in the countryside, and they are so friendly and fun! If I move to a place with a bigger yard I will definitely get one.

I look forward to following your blog and learning more about you.

I love your background, it's so colorful. Looking at it makes me happy and hungry! I also love your Voki, especially because I get to hear your sweet voice. I played with your horse as your mom instructed me, I fed and brushed him.

The sports that I play are soccer, tennis, football, and a little bit of volleyball.

The pets that I had were three Bull Frogs, one crab, eight Guppy Fish, three Gold Fish, two Betta Fish, but those all died , and the only pets I have now are two Guppy Fish, from the eight Guppy Fish that I had.
